Just another day.

Got this idea from Kristen @ No Small Thing A glimpse into my day, just an ordinary day…
FOR TODAY January 15:

Outside my window…What I can see thru the smears...sunny, deceivingly though as it is COLD out.

I am thinking…that I should go throw in a load of laundry.

I am thankful for…spending the morning with good friends that I don't see often enough and two cute little ones. I miss seeing Thomas and Ella :-)

From the kitchen…meatloaf from our freezer cooking a few weeks ago.

I am wearing…jeans and an old Penn State sweatshirt. It is COLD outside.

I am creating…finishing up a 2009 scrap calendar for my inlaws. I hope they get it before 2010

I am going…to the school path in 2 hours to pick up Tim. (did I say it was COLD outside)

I am reading…Water for Elephants. Only on page 10 so I have no opinion yet.

I am hoping…the Steelers win on Sunday.

I am hearing…CNN News on the satellite radio.

Around the house…nice and warm from the pellet stove. Noticing how dirty my windows are. Afraid to see how dirty the bathroom on the main floor is. I forgot to do my pass thru this morning before my friends came by.

A few plans for the rest of the week: laundry, a 4 day weekend, working at the farm tomorrow, cleaning the office out.

Here is picture thought I am sharing…

the hubby has all the recent pictures on his computer.....

He really is a sweet boy.

My oldest. The one that has been driving me nuts with his pre-pubescent angst.

Check this picture out.

Light on his feet.

Tag!

I'm so green to blogger land I have been tagged for my first meme. (what does that stand for anyway.) Thanks to Kristen @ No Small Thing :-)

1. What is the first pet you remember?

The one and only pet I had growing up. A goldfish, Sonny. I won him at a carnival and he lived all of 2 weeks or so. I was so sad when he died.

2. How many different kinds of pets have you owned?

Sonny the goldfish.

Hubby and I "rescued" a kitten we named Nikko from my sister in law when my nephew was about 2 and torturing the poor little guy. I didn't even LIKE cats. Drove the poor scared thing from Johnstown to Pittsburgh. I was trying to hold him in my lap and he kept trying to climb up and nestle under my chin. He was all of about 6 weeks old. I was so freaked out I kept hollering "he is going to bite my jugular vein!" I thought I had a vampire cat I guess.

A few weeks later when we decided he was lonely (Hubby and I both worked all day) we adopted him a friend from the pound. We named her Micia (Italian for little kitty).

We had to put Nikko to sleep just about 2 years ago. He was 16. We adopted Cyrus a few months later. He spent his first year in our family torturing poor Micia in her old age. We lost Micia last April. She was 17.

I miss them both. Sad to say, I haven't really bonded with Cyrus much.

3. What was your strangest pet?

Not sure I've had a strange pet. Maybe Cyrus. If you don't pay attention to him he jumps up the counter (ERR!!!!) and starts knocking stuff off. He also puts food in his mouth and carries it across the kitchen, spits it on the floor and then eats it. I guess he is pretty strange.

4. What is your dream pet?

Hmmmm...I guess I'd love to have a horse.

5. What is your nightmare pet?

Cyrus. He drives me crazy.

6. Your best/ funniest pet story

When we rescued Nikko from the crazed nephew, my sil told us he was a "she" We actually named him Micia first and called her a girl and treated her like a girl (you know all gentle and stuff). Two weeks later whe "she" had her first vet appointment the vet looked at us and asked why we were calling "HIM' a girl. Ooops...I guess we didn't pay attention in biology or something. So we changed his name. Funny thing was that as soon as my hubby found out "she" was a "he" he started to treat him different. Played rougher with him, didn't cuddle him as much.

7. Tell your worst/saddest pet story

Having to make the decision to let them go. Terrible. I know now why my parents didn't let us have animals. It was so hard on my boys.

8. Did you ever have a scary animal experience?

Just my aunt's crazy Siamesse cat that would always hiss at me when I went to their house. That.cat.hated.me. My aunt still denies that.

9. What was your favorite pet? Nikko. I think the reason I haven't bonded with Cyrus is because we got him too soon after we lost Nikko.

10. What did you really want to tell us about pets that didn’t fit into the other questions?

My boys (all of them!) really want a Dog. Really really. I am afraid of dogs! How can I have a dog???? Not only do they want a dog, they want a DOG...a Great Dane!

I'm supposed to take 4 people now, huh? Most of the blogs I read are craft blogs..not sure they will respond, but I'll try.

I tag:

Kelly

Suzanne

holy cow...I just realized I need more friends in blogger land!!!! How do you get more blogger friends?????

One of those Twilight people.

I finished all the Twilight books. All 4 of them. In about 2 weeks. Not really much to brag about as they don't have much substance to them. The first 3 were decent...the last one was a tad bit over the top.

I'm not on "Team Edward" I have no desire to be a vampire.

Now Jacob......being a "werewolf" would be cool. :-)

I joined an online reading group last year. (www.goodreads.com) They are doing a group read of War and Peace starting in February. I think I'm going to try that....need to revitalize the brain cells.

I caved

okay...I'm not as strong as my friend Kristen @ No Small Thing

You all know Josh is grounded for two weeks. Well, after I posted my last blog update I got a call from a friend inviting us over to watch the Steelers play (BEAT!!!) the Chargers. I really stewed over this for the last day. Going to watch the game meant that Josh would get to see a friend of his that he never gets to see. But it would also mean it would be allowed two or three of the things he was banished from...tv, video games and friends. I caved. We went. He had to clean his room and the cat boxes before we left. We didn't even tell him we were going till we got in the car. We could have gone at 1 and we didn't go til 4. He still has to serve out the rest of his punishment.

I. am. weak.

Weekend Update :-)

Busy week here as ususal.

Tim- by Friday he seemed to be going off to school better. In talking with his teacher it might just be an issue of the bar being raised a bit. Tim has the worlds worst handwriting. He can write neatly if he chooses..he just doesn't choose. So there is alot of re-writing. Language Arts is normally first thing in the morning. This mom should have put that together sooner. She is the one that used to make herself throw up in 2nd grade cause she didn't want to go to school!

Josh- He is on Day 7 of a two week punishment. For what you may ask? Hmmm...let's just say he was trying to see what he could get past our Net Nanny filter. Thankfully the filter worked...but I sure had an eye opener reading the alert emails. This is a family friendly blog...so I'll leave it at that. Preteen hormones are going to be the death of me. His punishment is no TV, no computer, no after school with friends. He had scouts, basketball practice and a orchestra concert that he went to and today he has a game and Cotillion. So don't feel too sorry for him. However, he will have to listen to the Steelers playoff game tomorrow. That is probably going to to be the hardest part of his entire 2 weeks.

On a happy note...the 6th grade string orchestra had their first concert on Thursday night. Josh is plaing cello this year. They really just starting bowing in late October. Amazing what their orchestra teacher did with them in a few short months. He really enjoys music. I'm glad he got his talent from his Dad.

Anxiety

Is it possible for my 7 year old to be so full of anxiety? He has never liked change, or new things, or the unknown; but for some reason his reaction seems to be getting worse. The last 3 mornings getting him ready for school has been hard. His stomach hurts, his head hurts, he thinks he is going to throw up. We've alerted his teacher in hopes that she can pin point something that might be happening at school. If you ask him what is bothering him he will give you a long list of every injustice he has been served over the last few months.

I wonder if there is somebody being mean to him? Does he think school is too hard? He loves his teacher, so I don't think that is an issue.

It is so hard being a Mom somedays.....
